Welcome to Muslim Girls Grammar School. My name is Yasmin Gamieldien and I am both humbled and privileged to be Principal of Muslim Girls Grammar School.
I have had a long career in education, in both public and private schools in Australia and overseas. I hold a Bachelor of Education in Language and Literacy and a Master’s degree in Education.
I have a strong commitment to fulfill the aims of Islamic education. At MGGS, we aim to:
- Promote the acquisition of knowledge (t’alim) in a nurturing environment
- Cultivate spiritual and ethical growth according to the will of Allah SWT (tarbiyah)
- Develop sound social behaviour (ta’dib)
The education of girls is especially close to my heart with the research showing that,
“When children learn with single-gender peers, they are more likely to attend to their studies, speak more openly in the classroom, and feel more encouraged to pursue their interests and achieve their fullest potential.” Psychology Today
I sincerely believe that every girl deserves an opportunity to be the best version of herself, and that Islamic education plays a pivotal role in the development of the whole person.
I am so honoured to be a part of the vision of the school founders and will work tirelessly with the team to fulfil the mission of MGGS.
The life of our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ will be the perfect example from which I will draw lessons for guiding the girls to a way of life.
